Singer Billy Joel recently experienced a dramatic on-stage accident, which occurred almost two months prior to the announcement that he would be postponing his tour due to health concerns.
On Tuesday, a new statement was released in which the legendary performer shared that his tour would be pushed back by four months because he needs to undergo an unexpected surgical procedure.
The incident that raised alarms among fans took place at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Connecticut, where Joel suffered a frightening fall during a performance.
While singing “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me,” he began swinging his microphone stand around. As the song neared its conclusion, Joel forcefully tossed the stand toward the stage. However, that movement led to him losing balance and falling to the floor.
His right arm sharply jerked backward just before he collapsed. Although the specifics of Joel’s sudden surgery have not been disclosed, many believe the fall could be connected to his current medical issues.
Despite attempting to carry on with the performance and appear unfazed, it was clear that the impact took a toll on him. “He tried to play it off like he was okay, but knew that deep down inside, that’s not the case.”
