Former President Donald Trump has granted a full, unconditional pardon to Todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of “Chrisley Knows Best.”
The news was shared on May 27 by Trump’s spokesperson, Margo Martin, who said Trump personally called the couple’s daughter, Savannah Chrisley, to tell her the news.
“It’s a great thing because your parents are going to be free and clean and I hope we can do it by tomorrow,” Trump said in the call, with his “pardon czar,” Alice Marie Johnson, standing nearby.
The Chrisleys were convicted in June 2022 for fraud, tax evasion, and other crimes. Todd was sentenced to 12 years, and Julie to 7. They began serving their sentences in January 2023.
Savannah, who spoke at the Republican National Convention, shared an emotional Instagram video wearing a “Make America Great Again” cap, saying she was “freaking out” and grateful for Trump.
“The president called me personally as I was walking into Sam’s Club and notified me that he was signing pardon paperwork for both my parents,” she said.
Savannah added she is preparing their home for their return and thanked supporters: “My parents get to start their lives over.”
The Chrisleys’ attorney, Alex Little, claimed the couple was unfairly targeted because of their conservative beliefs and said the prosecution was “tainted by multiple constitutional violations and political bias.” He called the pardon a step toward justice.
The family rose to fame for their extravagant lifestyle and family drama on their USA Network reality show.
