Cher’s drug addict son Elijah Blue Allman rushed to hospital after overdosing

Elijah Blue Allman, the son of music icons Cher and the late Gregg Allman, has reportedly been hospitalized after a frightening overdose incident over the weekend in Southern California, according to RadarOnline.com.

Sources close to the situation revealed that Elijah was rushed to a hospital in Joshua Tree, California, early Saturday morning following the alarming episode. The exact substances involved in the overdose have not been disclosed.

Insiders say that the 47-year-old musician is currently receiving medical treatment and is considered “very lucky to have survived” the ordeal.

A source added that Cher’s main focus right now is her son’s health and recovery, and she is doing everything in her power to ensure he gets the help he needs.

This is not the first time Elijah has struggled with addiction. In a revealing 2014 interview, he spoke openly about his ongoing battle with substance abuse, admitting that he began using drugs at the age of 11. He shared at the time:

I did have some close calls and some moments of really feeling at the edge of mortality … I always kind of kept it a little bit safe, but you never can do that.”

Recently, concerns about Elijah’s well-being intensified after disturbing new photos surfaced showing him looking “disheveled” while wandering around the grounds of the Chateau Marmont hotel in Hollywood.

Sources say that friends fear Cher’s recent decision to practice “tough love” may be too extreme for the troubled 48-year-old. One insider commented: “It’s obvious he’s in the midst of a serious crisis, he needs help.”

Another source claimed: “For most of his life, anytime Elijah has fallen, she’s been there to catch him, but recent events have compelled her to turn her back on her youngest son.

A lot of experts say that tough love is the only way to handle an addict, and Cher seems to be subscribing to that philosophy, but people around her think this hands-off approach is the wrong way and not what Elijah’s father would have wanted.

Elijah’s overdose comes shortly after his estranged wife, Marieangela King, 37, served him with divorce papers.

The couple, who were married for 11 years, officially split when Marieangela filed for divorce on May 17 at Elijah’s $1 million North Hollywood condominium. According to court documents, the two married on December 1, 2013, and separated on March 31, with “irreconcilable differences” listed as the cause of the breakup.
