Ed Sheeran Announces Upcoming Hiatus from Music to Focus on Fatherhood

Ed Sheeran has revealed plans to step away from the spotlight temporarily once his current tour wraps up. The British superstar shared the news with fans during the kickoff night of the North American leg of his tour in Arizona, explaining his desire to prioritize family life.

Addressing the crowd, Sheeran hinted that it might be quite a while before he hits a major US stage again.

“This will be the last time I’m here for a bit,” Sheeran told the audience. “I might take a break when the tour finishes and just be a dad for a while. If I don’t see you for a bit, I love you and thank you for coming.”

Family First

The singer shares two children with his wife, Cherry Seaborn, whom he married in 2019.

This won’t be the first time the global hitmaker has stepped back from the industry. Sheeran has famously taken extended hiatuses between album cycles in the past, using the time to recharge, travel, and focus entirely on his personal life before returning with new material.
